New to Martial Arts? Start here For Adults

No experience, no problem—that’s the whole point.

Never trained a day in your life? You’re exactly who we built our Fundamentals Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays we have a coach dedicated only to first-timers, so your very first class is built around you not thrown at you. You don’t need to be fit, athletic, or own a uniform (gi) to start.

Our adult curriculums follow a spiral learning model the same approach used in education, where core skills are introduced, then revisited and deepened over time in a rotating cycle instead of taught once and forgotten. Because it repeats, you always get another pass to absorb the material, and you can start any day without playing catch-up.

What does a class looks like? For Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, your first day is a private lesson with a coach one-on-one. Then you are able to jump right into our classes all built around the same reliable rhythm warm up, hands-on technical instruction, and then the opportunity to test what you have learned with live practice. AS a beginner, you may ease into live rounds at your own pace, if you want to start slow - feel free. If you’re ready to jump all in - then by all means go ahead!

How the free trial works: A staff member starts by going over your program options with you. For Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu beginners, your first day is a private lesson with a coach one-on-one, built around you before you join any group class. These private BJJ trial lessons are offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 6:30pm during the Fundamentals class, or you may call us to schedule another time. For Judo, Wrestling, and Kickboxing, you jump straight into class, where our coaches work with brand-new beginners every single day. Either way, you may ease in or just watch first your call. Your first 7 days are completely free: no credit card, no commitment. Wear comfortable athletic clothes and text us at (703) 662-8161 or call us at (703) 536-5414 with any questions.

How Membership Works: When you’re ready to join, it’s simple and honest. We never take payment information until you enroll.Choose a commitment plan for our best rate, or stay fully month-to-month. New to Martial Arts? Start here For kids

Confidence, focus, and real skills—for ages 3 to 17.

No experience needed. In a safe, supportive, encouraging environment, kids build confidence, discipline, and self-defense skills the kid of confidence that helps them solve their own problems, stand up for themselves, and stay calm when it counts.

How the program works: Our kids curriculum follows a spiral learning model the same method used in schools, where skills are revisited and built on over time so they stick. It runs on a structured 3-month cycle, designed so your child can start any day and jump right in no waiting for a new session to begin. Kids train Brazilian jiu-jitsu four days a week plus a judo base class twice a week, and the BJJ classes weave in the judo and wrestling skills that build a well rounded grappler. Within each class, students are grouped and coached by age and experience level, so every child brand-new or seasoned, younger or older is working at the right level for them.

Membership at Fifty/50

We teach four main arts under one roof—Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, and Kickboxing — for both adults and kids, at every level from first-timer to competitor.

Adults choose how they want to train: a single art, a grappling bundle, or an all-access membership that opens every class we offer. Brazilian jiu-jitsu has a Fundamentals track for newer students and an Advanced track as you progress, and there’s a dedicated Women’s-Only BJJ class. Every art follows a spiral curriculum— core skills are introduced, then revisited and deepened over time in a rotating cycle rather than taught once and forgotten — so you may start any day without playing catch-up.

Kids (ages 3-17) train in age and grade based groups: Mini (Pre-K & Kindergarten), Junior (grades 1-6), and Teen (grades 7-12). The youth program is built on a Brazilian jiu-jitsu base four days a week plus a Judo class twice a week, with wrestling and judo skills woven into the jiu-jitsu for a well-rounded foundation. Kids are grouped by age and experience within each class, so every child works at the right level, and the youth curriculum runs on a spiral cycle your child can join any day.

How our programs are organized

How membership plans work

  • Start free: Your first week is on us — no credit card, no commitment. We never take payment information until you chose to enroll.

  • Pick your plan: Train a single art, bundle a few, or go all-access. Youth memberships include a one-time registration that comes with a full gear kit.

  • Commit and save, or stay flexible: Our best rates come with a membership plan — 12 months for adults, 6 months for youth. Prefer no commitment? Any membership can be month-to-month for $50 more, and you can switch to a month-to-month at any time, so you’re never locked in.

  • Families train together: Every additional family member saves — up to half off — and fifth trains free. Active-duty military, first responders, law enforcement, and Fairfax County teachers save too.

Where it starts
